Whiskey, History, and a Dream:
How Fair Play Distillers Came to Be
In 2020, brothers Damon and Drew Lomison made a bold decision: to leave their careers as accountants and pursue their passion for craft spirits. They purchased a shuttered RV dealership on Lycoming Creek Road and spent the next year transforming it—knocking down walls, installing plumbing, electric, a boiler, and a hybrid copper pot still—somehow squeezing a fully functional distillery into the old building. Once the dust settled, they got to work crafting high-quality spirits and filling barrels and bottles.
From the start, their mission was clear: to create premium liquors that could rival major brands while honoring the history and authenticity of Williamsport and Central Pennsylvania. The name Fair Play Distillers pays homage to the legendary Fair Play Men—rugged, self-reliant settlers who governed the West Branch Susquehanna River Valley from 1773 to 1785. These frontier farmers, distilled their own spirits and even declared independence from Britain on July 4, 1776, beneath the Tiadaghton Elm along Pine Creek.
Fair Play Distillers opened its tasting room in January 2024, and after seeing strong demand, the brothers expanded in December 2024 with a cocktail lounge in the heart of downtown Williamsport. Located in the historic Faxon Company building—an emblem of the city’s lumber boom—the new lounge exudes speakeasy charm and welcomes both locals and visitors alike.
Today, Fair Play Distillers offers a full lineup of spirits, including Whiskey, Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, Rum, and Brandy distilled from local wines. Both locations offer bottle sales and a menu of expertly crafted cocktails—including the best Old Fashioned in town.
We hope to see you soon!
